ABOUT US

Who we are.
Maris Astro Junior School is a community-based, not-for-profit educational institution founded by Mr. Mboowa Ssebwami Deogratias and Mrs. Mboowa Mary Gorrethy Nalubega, visionary educators dedicated to transforming the future of children in rural Uganda through accessible, high-quality learning. Established in 2014 and officially opened in 2017, our school stands as a beacon of hope for the community of Lugeye Village, Kakiri Town Council, Wakiso District—about 16 miles from Kampala and 4 km off Hoima Road.
Founders' message
At Maris Astro Junior School, we believe that every child deserves the chance to learn, dream, and thrive. What began as a simple vision to uplift our community has grown into a family united by love, learning, and purpose. We are deeply grateful to everyone who continues to support our mission — together, we are not only educating children, we are building futures.

Our Story
Our Story Maris Astro Junior School was founded out of a genuine desire to give back to the community of Lugeye, where many children previously walked long distances to reach school or missed out on education altogether. Working hand-in-hand with parents and residents, the founders built the school—literally—brick by brick, using locally made materials and community labor. Today, Maris Astro Junior School continues to grow as a center of excellence and hope.
